Universal Media Server, a free (open source) DLNA-compliant UPnP Media Server for Windows, macOS and Linux (originally based on the PS3 Media Server). It is able to stream videos, audio and images to any DLNA-capable device. It contains more features than most paid UPnP/DLNA Media Servers. Reason for Winamp's lesser audio quality compared to other modern audio players is that it uses deprecated audio output interfaces (APIs). In fact since Windows Vista onward, those APIs Winamp is using (such as DirectSound, WaveOut) are emulated in software mixer for compatibility purposes further distancing the audio path from the hardware.
I have a Onkyo TX-NR626 receiver that is DLNA certified. (linked here) I would like to be able to stream FLAC music files to it via my always-on WHS 2011 server through the Ethernet connection on the receiver. Or even from one of my PC in the house. A3D Output Plug-In (WinAmp)
The plugin plays audio using Aureal's A3D 2.0 - 3.0 sound engine, or DS3D. It creates a sound source for each audio channel of a song and places it in 3D space around the listener. Lot of people uses to install winamp before to install a plugin for MM, then installs the plugin, move the installed DLL in MM's plugin directory and then uninstall winamp.
All this procedure is useless.
Do the following:
1. Go in MM folder
Winamp Dlna Server
2. Copy mediamonkey.exe as winamp.exe
Winamp Dlna Output
That's all. When you install the plugin, change the default 'c:Program FilesWinamp' folder to your MM folder and it will install the plugin directly in the MM plugin folder. This because lot of Winamp plugins' installers check the presence of the winamp executable inside the destination folder.
For plugins that don't ask the installation folder you can:
1. create an empty 'c:program fileswinampplugins' folder, install the plugin and move the DLL
2. Don't use them because i hate who create installers without the possibility to choose the destination folder
